A storm that has become an archetypal disturbance for examining geomagnetic hazards to power systems and which has become the most legendary story among electrical engineers and space scientists. A storm that gave people on Earth a taste of what space weather can do to our space and terrestrial infrastructures and which is a perfect example of why the implementation of mitigation measures is so important.
